古典目录书籍《汉书·艺文志》记载了《黄帝内经》和《黄帝外经》，汉朝时有外经三十七卷，虽有学者认为陈士铎《外经微言》就是所言外经者，但其书九卷八十一篇，与目录书中所言并不一致，而且至今学术界意见仍不统一，或有认为其书为伪书，或归于医案医话医论之类。《外经微言》是否就是《汉书·艺文志》所言《黄帝外经》，仍值得研究。

HuangDi NeiJing and HuangDi WaiJing were recorded in the classical book HanShu·YiWenZhi. In the Han Dynasty, WaiJing contained thirty-seven volumes. Although some people thought that WaiJing WeiYan, written by Chen Shiduo, was the so-called Waijing, there were nine volumes, eighty-one sheets in the book, which did not accord with what was said in the catalogue. Furthermore, the opinions of the academic community are still not unified so far. Some people figured that it was a fake book while others the kind of medical records. It was worth investigating that if WaiJing WeiYan was HuangDi WaiJing, recorded by HanShu·YiWenZhi.
